ALL ABOUT HOMECOMING!
  • 9/23 - 9/27: VVMS Homecoming Spirit Week! (see below image for details)
  • Friday 9/27:
    • 4:45pm Homecoming Parade - a classic Edina tradition featuring the Edina Hornet Marching Band and the 2024 Homecoming Court. The parade starts at Edina Country Club, runs down Wooddale Ave., and ends at the Edina Community Center before the big game! Fun for all ages, bring a smile and some Edina Spirit!
    • 7pm Homecoming Football Game - GO HORNETS! at Kuhlman Stadium (Edina vs Prior Lake). Purchase tickets here.

Please review the game expectations for Middle School students:

  • Middle School students MUST enter the game with a parent/caregiver and must sit WITH them.
  • Students unaccompanied by an adult will be asked to leave.
  • The same expectations from school apply at the football game. We want our Hornets to live in the green (no harmful, red-level language). Students that are living outside of the green-level expectation, will be asked to leave.
  • Show up and have fun…AND be mindful of the fact that our elderly, community partners, and even celebrities, attend this function. We want to showoff how amazing Edina is!

WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS AT THE GAME!!!

Unfortunately, some of our scholars were unable to contain their excitement last year. This is easily avoidable if our adults in the community help us supervise. Both middle schools are present at our football games (especially Homecoming) and so it is a BIG event that requires lots of eyes. We would love to have parent volunteers arrive early and help us get posted up with chaperoning.

SIGN UP to Chaperone the Homecoming Game. PERK! Parents that sign up get a free entrance to the game.

Two Middle School Career Exploration Field Trips + We Need Parent & Family Insights & Ideas!

Non-School Day Career Exploration Field Trips for Middle School Students

Middle school is a great time to begin exploring the world of career possibilities. We invite your student to join us this fall as we dream big, explore passions, and discover pathways that may be calling.

Oct 4 | Environmental Science Careers | 9:00am-3:00pm | $79

Do you care about the environment and want to make a difference? Did you know there are careers dedicated to saving the planet? Environmental science is a dynamic field that offers countless opportunities to make a positive impact on our planet. If you're passionate about protecting the environment and want to contribute to a sustainable future, consider exploring environment science careers. Join us on October 4th as we learn more about environmental science, then take a tour of the biggest water treatment plant in Minnesota. We will learn about the filtration process that makes our drinking water safe to consume. Learn about the scientific methods used by water treatment plants to keep the ecosystem running smoothly. We can't wait to have you join us and make a difference! Learn more and register here.

Nov 5 | Careers in Government | 9:00am-3:00pm | $79

It's Election Day! Election Day is an important day in a democratic society, marking the opportunity for citizens to exercise their right to vote and choose their leaders. It's a day when the voices of the people are heard, and the direction of the government is determined. If you're interested in being directly involved in shaping public policy and serving your community, consider a career as a government official. Please join us as we speak to government officials about their careers. We will stop at the State Capital, where students will learn how citizens can get more involved in government. Come see the legislative process with government officials conducting their legislative hearings to debate today's issues. Learn more and register here.

Volunteer Opportunities
Lunch and Hall Monitors

Come see what the fuss is all about, our kids are great and you make a difference!

We loved having our VVMS parents volunteer during passing times and at lunch last year! Please, please please, keep coming in and volunteering to supervise.

We are offering work spaces for those who want to come during our passing time. This allows our parents to supervise halls during transition time but then hop back into an office to work. We're happy to accommodate!

Thank you!!

Working with middle school requires the right temperament. We mostly just need you to be smiley, and cheerful. We avoid practices that involve screaming or yelling. We prefer softer approaches that are kind but firm. Individuals volunteering are able to suspend bias and judgment and can offer support for all students. If you think this is you? Please help us in adding a greater eco-system like approach to how we guide and shepherd our young Hornets.

Parking for Parent Visitors

Parents and caregivers, if you are visiting Valley View please check in at the front desk and a clipboard will be provided for you to enter your vehicle information. This will prevent any boots or ticketing.

Thank You!
