Teacher and Staff Gift Drive - LAST WEEK TO GIVE!!

The Valley View PTO is collecting contributions to share amongst Valley View teachers and staff to celebrate the Season of Giving!

The amount you donate will be distributed equally among ALL teachers and staff.

Suggested donation amount is $25 per family, but please gift what you are able.

GRATITUDE MESSAGES:

Everyone is invited to write a message to our staff and teachers, even if you decide not to contribute to the gift drive. You can address your messages to a specific person or write one message for the entire faculty. Please sign your name in each messages so they know who has sent them.

You can make financial contributions and write your messages HERE.

INLET PARKING ON VALLEY VIEW RD.

We have had some REALLY close calls during pick up where students are getting picked up in precarious situations and safety is at risk.

Students should only board on school side

There are reports of students even running across the street and hopping in the car on the opposing traffic side (south side of Valley View road).

Please be careful during pickup and keep your head on a swivel so as not to contact students trying to get in their parents' vehicles.

Also, please avoid the east staff/bus parking lot for pickup. It is reserved exclusively for buses, staff and/or injured students (reported to us).

Next Week is Spirit Week!

Below you can see our staff having fun previewing next week's spirit week!

  • Monday - Pajamas
  • Tuesday - Tropical
  • Wednesday - Wacky Hat
  • Thursday - Costume Day
  • Friday - Edina Spirit
GOC Flex

Our Girls of Color Flex is spearheaded by so many diverse female intellects. Together, they created conditions for our scholars to craft messages to a few staff. The signs reflect their appreciation in how our staff has helped them feel like they belong. POWERFUL!

Brand New Saw for our Engineering Department!

Mr. Constantine applied for a grant through TBG Education Foundation and he received this new saw.

Staff Professional Development

Our continuous learning cycles with our VV staff continue to foster deep learning and shared methodology. This 4 week action research focused on feedback. We pulled research from MIT, Zarretta Hammond, and author, Cornelius Minor. We love how our staff continues to be trailblazers in instruction -  constantly working to refine their craft! Great collaboration!

No Phones = More Socializing!

SO pleased with our phone policy. Now students are spending more time playing games and socializing with each other through ways like Pokémon!! Fun!

Big Red Boots

Check out the big red boots fashion statement from 8th grade student Carter F!

Volunteer Opportunities
Lunch and Hall Monitors

Come see what the fuss is all about, our kids are great and you make a difference!

We loved having our VVMS parents volunteer during passing times and at lunch last year! Please, please please, keep coming in and volunteering to supervise.

We are offering work spaces for those who want to come during our passing time. This allows our parents to supervise halls during transition time but then hop back into an office to work. We're happy to accommodate!

Working with middle school requires the right temperament. We mostly just need you to be smiley, and cheerful. We avoid practices that involve screaming or yelling. We prefer softer approaches that are kind but firm. Individuals volunteering are able to suspend bias and judgment and can offer support for all students. If you think this is you? Please help us in adding a greater eco-system like approach to how we guide and shepherd our young Hornets.

Parking for Parent Visitors

Parents and caregivers, if you are visiting Valley View please check in at the front desk and a clipboard will be provided for you to enter your vehicle information. This will prevent any boots or ticketing.

Thank You!

Summer Woodshop Opportunity

We’re excited to have a new opportunity to use the Edina Community Center Woodshop for Middle School / High School day-camps this summer—but we want to hear from you first!

What should we build? What tools are you curious about? What techniques do you want to learn?

Please take 5 minutes to fill out our survey and help co-create an awesome new addition to summer camps this year.

Also, if you know any talented woodworkers who might enjoy working with youth—have them get in touch! And if you’re thinking, “Wow! I want to take a woodworking class, too, but I’m an adult!” Fear not, we are looking to expand our adult class offerings and have a survey for that too.

ECC Parent/Family Survey

We need your insights and ideas! Edina Community Ed is a place to belong.  As our team continues to develop out-of-school time programs designed to help every student discover their possibilities and thrive, your feedback will help us refine and design innovative programs that meet the current and emerging needs and interests of our middle school students and families.

Please take a few moments to complete this short survey. Thank you in advance for your time and engagement.
