The Fall Play is Next Week!

Micah only has forty-five minutes to finish her paper on The Great Gatsby. She just needs to check a few facts on the internet first. Unfortunately, the web is a nefariously wacky place where boxing cats, Russian spies, and competitive streaming services threaten to take over Micah's schoolwork, or worse.

Are you intrigued??? Then come support our young thespians who have been working hard for the past couple of months to deliver an entertaining show for us!

We Love Our VVTV Crew!

Over the last few weeks, are Administrative Dean (Kris Cruzan) was featured, and then this week, staff from our music team were loved up! (Mr. Kubasta, Mr. Gumz, and Ms. Darby). Did you know Ms. Darby’s dad was also her teacher? He even comes in to help support her classes sometimes! Did you know Mr. Gumz played 9 different instruments? Did you know Mr. Kubasta was a high school soccer player? We have a staff rich with great experiences and talent. VVTV has done a fantastic job celebrating our capacity!

MMEA Conference

The VVMS 8th Grade Band was selected to perform at the Minnesota Music Educator Association Conference. This is an incredible honor—akin to winning a state championship! The 8th Grade Band has been putting in countless hours of hard work to prepare for their 45-minute concert.

They will showcase their talents at the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) Conference at the Minneapolis Convention Center on February 13, 2025. The performance will be for an audience of family, friends, and hundreds of music educators from across the Midwest. In the meantime, Dr. Ostrander from UW-EC will be coming to work with the students during advisory.

Principal Bass Drops in to STRIVE

Principal Bass spent some one-on-one time with students in our STRIVE classroom. Working with Jodie Mettee to help with word identification, image recognition, and kinesthetic work with gluing and manipulatives.

The VVMS Vibe

The VIBE is alive even when it isn’t on stage. We caught three of young Hornets embracing each other and soaking in some friendship, camaraderie, and VV brotherhood. We love when we see our young people bonded and connected!

The Spring Musical Has Been Selected!

Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney's Descendants: The Musical is a brand-new musical jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films!

Volunteer Opportunities
Lunch and Hall Monitors

Come see what the fuss is all about, our kids are great and you make a difference!

We loved having our VVMS parents volunteer during passing times and at lunch last year! Please, please please, keep coming in and volunteering to supervise.

We are offering work spaces for those who want to come during our passing time. This allows our parents to supervise halls during transition time but then hop back into an office to work. We're happy to accommodate!

Working with middle school requires the right temperament. We mostly just need you to be smiley, and cheerful. We avoid practices that involve screaming or yelling. We prefer softer approaches that are kind but firm. Individuals volunteering are able to suspend bias and judgment and can offer support for all students. If you think this is you? Please help us in adding a greater eco-system like approach to how we guide and shepherd our young Hornets.

Parking for Parent Visitors

Parents and caregivers, if you are visiting Valley View please check in at the front desk and a clipboard will be provided for you to enter your vehicle information. This will prevent any boots or ticketing.

Thank You!

Summer Woodshop Opportunity

We’re excited to have a new opportunity to use the Edina Community Center Woodshop for Middle School / High School day-camps this summer—but we want to hear from you first!

What should we build? What tools are you curious about? What techniques do you want to learn?

Please take 5 minutes to fill out our survey and help co-create an awesome new addition to summer camps this year.

Also, if you know any talented woodworkers who might enjoy working with youth—have them get in touch! And if you’re thinking, “Wow! I want to take a woodworking class, too, but I’m an adult!” Fear not, we are looking to expand our adult class offerings and have a survey for that too.

ECC Parent/Family Survey

We need your insights and ideas! Edina Community Ed is a place to belong.  As our team continues to develop out-of-school time programs designed to help every student discover their possibilities and thrive, your feedback will help us refine and design innovative programs that meet the current and emerging needs and interests of our middle school students and families.

Please take a few moments to complete this short survey. Thank you in advance for your time and engagement.
