VEAP Food Drive was a Success!

The food drive was a huge success. We collected an incredible 4,600 items! VEAP is struggling to keep food on the shelves, and our donations will make a huge difference to the members of our community who will receive it.

Thank you for supporting the food drive!

8th Grade Choir Collaboration

Choir teacher, Ms. Dold, worked in partnership with 8th grade Somali leaders, and Somali Cultural Liaison, Farhiya Omar-Samatar to prepare a traditional Somali song, Dhaanto, to perform at the 8th grade Choir Concert.

Please enjoy this video of their performance.

Fancy Friday Party

The fancy Friday Party for VVMS faculty and staff was a smashing success! Thank you to everyone who helped to contribute items or volunteer their time for the event!

20 Questions in 20 Minutes

Media Center hosts, 20 in 20 again! This is our cool partnership with Community Ed, bridging into Edina (families/parents/caregivers) to bring speakers who can chat about their career. Last week's presenters were Jennifer Stukenberg, an Interior Designer and Peter Leahy, an Architect.

The next 20 in 20 will be on November 26th and will feature a children's author named Payal Doshi.

MMEA Conference

The VVMS 8th Grade Band was selected to perform at the Minnesota Music Educator Association Conference. This is an incredible honor—akin to winning a state championship! The 8th Grade Band has been putting in countless hours of hard work to prepare for their 45-minute concert.

They will showcase their talents at the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) Conference at the Minneapolis Convention Center on February 13, 2025. The performance will be for an audience of family, friends, and hundreds of music educators from across the Midwest. In the meantime, Dr. Ostrander from UW-EC will be coming to work with the students during advisory.

The Spring Musical Has Been Selected!

Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney's Descendants: The Musical is a brand-new musical jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films!

Volunteer Opportunities
Lunch and Hall Monitors

Come see what the fuss is all about, our kids are great and you make a difference!

We loved having our VVMS parents volunteer during passing times and at lunch last year! Please, please please, keep coming in and volunteering to supervise.

We are offering work spaces for those who want to come during our passing time. This allows our parents to supervise halls during transition time but then hop back into an office to work. We're happy to accommodate!

Working with middle school requires the right temperament. We mostly just need you to be smiley, and cheerful. We avoid practices that involve screaming or yelling. We prefer softer approaches that are kind but firm. Individuals volunteering are able to suspend bias and judgment and can offer support for all students. If you think this is you? Please help us in adding a greater eco-system like approach to how we guide and shepherd our young Hornets.

Parking for Parent Visitors

Parents and caregivers, if you are visiting Valley View please check in at the front desk and a clipboard will be provided for you to enter your vehicle information. This will prevent any boots or ticketing.

Thank You!
