VVMS in Focus
MCA TESTING

A HUGE reason as to why we were ranked top 5 in the state, is because of our incredible test scores. We believe positive culture will help students perform well on the assessment.

On 4/15 we will have a schoolwide relay during advisory that will offer prizes to advisories that answer MCA questions correctly. Sort of like our school-wide bingo except with MCA questions.

On 4/17 we will only have two entrances available to students for entry into the building - one in the rear by the buses, and our main entrance at door 1. Please plan accordingly. We have fun things to hand out and successful cues to project to our students before they head into the first session of testing. So, it’s imperative they only come in through those two doors. We recognize the adjustment but it will be well worth the pivot.

We also encourage parents to come in and cheer their student on to success if you wish to be apart of the test season culture!

MCA testing will take place the mornings of April 17/18 and 24/25

To ensure that your learner is set up for success, we ask that you assist them with the following:

Being Physically and Mentally Prepared

  • Ensure your student gets a good night sleep and has a good breakfast before the test.
    • VVMS offers breakfast in the cafeteria before school at no charge for learners

Being “Test Ready”

  • Learners should arrive to school with a fully charged Chromebook.  We also strongly recommend they bring wired headphones.
    • Please note – wireless/Bluetooth headphones/earbuds are not permitted during MCA testing
  • Remind your child to have a few No. 2 pencils w/erasers, and dress comfortably
  • Phones, fitness trackers, Apple watches, E-books, electronics, etc. are not permitted during the test.  If students use these devices for any reason during testing, the state will typically disqualify their score.  Please instruct your student to preferably leave these items at home on test day.  Otherwise, students should make a plan to have them secured in their locker or left with their teacher during testing.
  • We also recommend learners bring a water bottle and book to ready in case they finish early.  Learners are not permitted to be on their device once they have finished testing for the day.
VVMS Fashion Fundraiser at Evereve, 50th and France Ave. May 1st from 10am-8pm. Sips and snacks from 5-8pm. 15% of all purchases benefit Valley View Middle School.
Save the Date May 10th; Special Persons Day

Way to go spread the Valley View Vibe through our community! We showed up and raised a total of $2,590 for our VEAP fund drive which was around 30% of all the funds collected by all 10 schools in the district and a huge increase from the $330 we raised last year.

THANK YOU VALLEY VIEW FAMILIES!

Meet our School Resource Officer

Officer Waterstreet is a VVMS partner and is often found playing hoops with students in Hornet Central, or popping into lunches to boost connections.

He cares about our community deeply and is a regular presence to ensure we keep our campus safe and vibey!

BIG love to our SRO.

Talent Share

Some pics from our Talent Share that was rocking during FLEX time last week!

Ms. Dold, Mr. Kubasta, and Ms. Snyder helped to deliver on a truly rich experience that created conditions for students to express in artistic pathways. The audience was loving and supportive and it truly reflected the familial spirit of the Valley View VIBE.

Buzz's Chinese Field Trip Adventure

Buzz our intergalactic exchange student, and honorary Hornet, traveled with Ms. Zhuo Wang and her classes on a Chinese field trip to a China Garden and Asia Mall.

Volunteer Opportunities
Lunch and Hall Monitors

Come see what the fuss is all about, our kids are great and you make a difference!

We have loved having our VVMS parents volunteer during passing times and at lunch! Please, please please, keep coming in and volunteering to supervise.

We are offering work spaces for those who want to come during our passing time. This allows our parents to supervise halls during transition time but then hop back into an office to work. We're happy to accommodate!

Working with middle school requires the right temperament. We mostly just need you to be smiley, and cheerful. We avoid practices that involve screaming or yelling. We prefer softer approaches that are kind but firm. Individuals volunteering are able to suspend bias and judgment and can offer support for all students. If you think this is you? Please help us in adding a greater eco-system like approach to how we guide and shepherd our young Hornets.

Parking for Parent Visitors

Parents and caregivers, if you are visiting Valley View please check in at the front desk and a clipboard will be provided for you to enter your vehicle information. This will prevent any boots or ticketing.

Thank You!

The PTO Supports the Media Center!

Thanks to your yearly Dues contributions the PTO is able to fund grants that benefit our staff, students, and school.

This year we were able to donate clear display bins for our library. These bins have transformed the way our students can browse through our book collection making it easier to find titles. Ms. Endo has already noticed a tremendous increase in students browsing the non-fiction section and checking out books!

The Media Center staff has also worked hard in categorizing the non-fiction collection to make it more accessible and easier to navigate.

Check out these pictures and see for yourself how you helped make a huge difference at Valley View!

Also, have you been in our Media Center lately? It's full of light, and plants, and welcoming smiles, providing the perfect vibe for our curious young hornets to discover their possibilities and thrive!!

Support the PTO!

The VVMS PTO does not hold any other fundraisers throughout the year, this is your chance to support our school!

Can you help us get there with a dues payment or consider an additional donation?
