VVMS in Focus
Secret Snowflake

Dear Valley View Families,

Valley View started a new tradition last year called Secret Snowflake. The Secret Snowflake event was created by our Student Leadership Team. It was designed to encourage the spirit of giving, create a sense of community, and add a bit of fun to the student day.

Student advisories are partnered together and there are a few small treat exchanges. Students do not know which advisory is giving them gifts. In the week before Winter Break the secret snowflake advisories are revealed and brought together to celebrate the upcoming break.

We’d love your support by being a presence on campus this day to help us celebrate our young Hornets and/or by sending a small treat in with your student. You should be hearing from your advisory teachers about specific details. As we are very conscientious of all our students’ beliefs, we ask that you do not buy treats that have any religious symbols on them.

Treats should be individually wrapped items. This is meant to be a small treat, please do not feel the need to do anything excessive. A small piece of candy or another small treat is what we are suggesting. Students should bring treats into their advisory teachers.

Thank you for your support and understanding.  We wish you all a wonderful Holiday season.

Caroling at Jerry's Foods

The VVMS 8th grade Chamber Choir delighted shoppers with some caroling at Jerry's Foods in Edina on Dec. 13th.

Volunteer Opportunities
Lunch and Hall Monitors

You are making a difference!!

We love our VVMS parents! Please, please please, come in and volunteer to supervise. We are offering work spaces for those who want to come during our passing time. This allows our parents to supervise halls during transition time but then hop back into an office to work. We're happy to accommodate!

**If you need to reserve a work space while you are there please do so HERE; for reference, here is the VV Daily Schedule.

Thank you!!

**Working with middle school requires the right temperament. We mostly just need you to be smiley, and cheerful. We avoid practices that involve screaming or yelling. We prefer softer approaches that are kind but firm. Individuals volunteering are able to suspend bias and judgment and can offer support for all students. If you think this is you? Please help us in adding a greater eco-system like approach to how we guide and shepherd our young Hornets.

PTO News
New PTO logo??

You may have noticed a slight change in our image this week. We recently learned that PTOs should not use the EPS mascot symbol in their logo so we went to work and created a new logo that embraces our mission as the VVMS PTO which is to 'support and enhance academics and extracurricular activities at Valley View Middle school and to strengthen the relationship between home and school'. We believe our new logo represents all of this and we are excited to share it with all of you today!

Support the PTO!

The VVMS PTO does not hold any other fundraisers throughout the year, this is your chance to support our school!

Can you help us get there with a dues payment or consider an additional donation?

THANK YOU!!

VVMS Updates
Free Menstrual Products

The Minnesota Legislature passed a new statute that all schools must provide free menstrual products in bathrooms for students grades 4 through 12.

Valley View Middle School will have a free dispenser installed in some bathrooms over the winter break. We encourage all parents to talk with their children about the natural body changes that occur in every child and how they can use these free menstrual products, if needed.
